Julia Herrera, a .NET developer in our Group’s Technology and Innovation Department, was the winner in the Social Commitment category at the 1st Alva Awards for Talent in Extremadura, held at the facilities of the DEUTZ Business School Foundation (Zafra) on Thursday 21 November.
Driven by the Foundation and in collaboration with Monliz, DIAM Corchos, Resilux, Inquiba, Tany Nature, Grupo Inprex, DEUTZ, DEUTZ Global Service Center, Baglass, Vegenat HealthCare, Líder Aliment and our Group, these awards aim to encourage the professional development of young people aged between 18 and 30, promoting their roots in the region and strengthening Extremadura’s business fabric.
In total, 10 awards were presented across different categories designed to promote talent in areas such as innovation, social commitment, cultural promotion, courage and rootedness. These awards are intended not only to recognise individual achievements, but also to inspire other young people to continue contributing to the development and wellbeing of Extremadura.
The proposal presented by Julia is called Intolergy, an app that helps people with severe food intolerances find foods that are compatible with the diet they need to follow. It is worth noting that this idea arose from Julia’s own food intolerance issue, which led her to look for a solution that would make it easier to find suitable products for diets aimed at conditions such as SIBO or coeliac disease.
The gala was attended by local authorities from different institutions such as the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Provincial Council of Badajoz, Zafra Town Council and the University of Extremadura. In addition, Miguel Ángel Leal, CEO of our Group’s Steel Division and a member of the jury, was responsible for presenting the Rootedness Award.
Through these lines, we would like to congratulate all the participants and winners of the 1st Alva Awards, as well as recognise the excellent work carried out by the Deutz Foundation in promoting an initiative of this social significance.
