On Wednesday 12 February, Ondupack, a corrugated cardboard packaging manufacturer belonging to our Group’s Packaging Division, inaugurated its new plant in Navalmoral de la Mata, a project that has involved an investment of 49 million euros and reinforces the company’s commitment to the region’s economic and social development.
The plant, which covers 60,000 square metres – expandable to 80,000 m² – in the Expacio Navalmoral business area, is added to the facilities already operated by Ondupack in Almendralejo (Badajoz), bringing the combined surface area to almost 100,000 m².

With an expected production capacity of more than 200 million m² of cardboard at the new plant, together both facilities will exceed 320 million square metres by 2030, when the new installation is expected to reach full performance, with production aimed mainly at the industrial sector. With this new facility, the company expects to generate 30 million euros in revenue in its first year of operation and to exceed 100 million euros by 2030, thus consolidating Ondupack’s market leadership.
The inauguration day, attended by almost 400 guests, was joined by the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, María Guardiola; the Spanish Government Delegate in Extremadura, José Luis Quintana Álvarez; the First Vice-President of the Provincial Council of Cáceres, Mª Esther Gutiérrez Morán; and the Mayor of Navalmoral de la Mata, Enrique Hueso, among other authorities. During the visit, they were accompanied by Ricardo Leal, Chairman and Founder of CL Grupo Industrial; Víctor Leal, CEO of the Packaging Division; and Fernando Tolosa, General Manager of Ondupack. “This plant not only symbolises an investment in infrastructure, but also our firm commitment to a competitive, cutting-edge industry, developed in
Extremadura,” highlighted Víctor Leal, CEO of CL Grupo Industrial’s Packaging Division, in his speech.

Ondupack’s new plant reinforces the company’s commitment to the circular economy by using 100% recyclable materials in the manufacture of its products. This commitment to sustainable materials not only helps to reduce environmental impact, but also positions Ondupack as a benchmark in the transition towards more responsible production models aligned with the demands of an increasingly sustainability-focused market.
“The plant is the most modern in southern Europe in the manufacture of corrugated cardboard packaging,” stated Fernando Tolosa, General Manager of Ondupack, who added that “the new facilities are equipped with the most advanced technology currently available, guaranteeing our clients maximum productivity, quality and service”.
In addition to its advanced technological capacity, the project will have a significant impact on employment, initially creating 50 direct jobs and 50 indirect jobs, with the aim of reaching up to 180 direct and 250 indirect jobs by 2030, thereby boosting the dynamism of the local and regional business fabric.
