Last Wednesday the 12th, we experienced something very special at the School of Industrial Engineering of the University of Extremadura (UEx) as part of Power You Xperience. It was the first time that, as a Group, together with the ManpowerGroup Foundation and UEx, we organised an event designed to bring students closer to the world of work.

Marta Nájera, People Director at our Group, welcomed the almost 100 students who filled the main lecture hall and encouraged them to get to know the Group first-hand. She then introduced the round table discussion “Breaking the Wall: is there life beyond university?” featuring Raúl Sánchez, Marketing Manager at Cristian Lay; Iván Casilda, Laboratory Coordinator at Perseida Belleza; Manuel Tena, Controller at Ondupet; Fermín Cancio, Maintenance Director; Juan Suero, Head of the Production Area, both from Siderúrgica Balboa; Isabel Rodríguez, Head of Compensation and Benefits for the Group; Clara Montero, Converting Coordinator; and Clara González, Quotations Technician, both from Ondupack. The discussion focused on growth opportunities within the Group, overcoming fear and stepping out of one’s comfort zone and, above all, having the right attitude and motivation when facing the opportunities that arise once university has come to an end.

The speed networking session was the highlight: brief, direct conversations between students and the teams from Perseida, Ondupack, Ondupet and Siderúrgica Balboa, with the participation also of Sara Maya, Development Manager at Ondupack and Ondupet; Alba Galván, Development Manager at Cristian Lay, Sikno and Perseida Belleza; Aitor Vaqurizo and Tamara Moya, Development Technicians in the Steel Division; Imanol Méndez, Corporate Head of Recruitment; and Isabel Rodríguez, C&B for the Group.

The event closed with a practical workshop on CVs and interviews, where achievements, preparation and self-awareness were discussed. “Technique can be trained, but attitude makes the difference,” said Fermín Cancio. Marta Nájera, meanwhile, stated: “The future of Extremadura depends on the talent of its people.”
And last Wednesday, with Power You Xperience, we proved it. Because at CL Grupo Industrial, we do not settle for talking about the future. We build it, here, with our people.
