Yesterday, Thursday 26 September, we had the pleasure of welcoming to our Siderúrgica Balboa facilities, a company belonging to our Group’s STEEL DIVISION, engineering lecturers from across Spain who were taking part in the 19th Meeting of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering Professors. This event, sponsored by the Spanish Association of Mechanical Engineering and held at the University of Extremadura, represented an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties between academia and industry, promoting learning and collaboration in a highly technical environment.
During the visit, they had the opportunity to see first-hand the recent investments in sustainability and energy efficiency made at Balboa, which reflect the firm commitment of the company and the corporation to the environment, decarbonisation and technological innovation.

Specifically, an investment of 17 million euros has been made in new machinery with the aim of optimising production processes, making them more efficient and significantly reducing environmental impact and CO2 emissions. These improvements reflect a determination to move towards a more responsible and globally competitive industry.
The attendees highlighted the importance of this type of meeting, which not only encourages the sharing of knowledge and viewpoints, but also makes it possible to explore new avenues for collaboration between academia and the steel industry. The interaction between participants enabled a valuable exchange of ideas on the challenges and opportunities in the sector, particularly in the context of sustainability and energy efficiency.
For Siderúrgica Balboa, this visit was a resounding success, reaffirming its commitment to technological and sustainable development. We are grateful for their interest in learning about our facilities and taking part in this event, which will undoubtedly contribute to a more innovative and environmentally responsible future.
