In line with our commitment to the environment, society and the circular economy, AENOR has awarded 14 Spanish steel companies, including Siderúrgica Balboa and Corrugados Getafe, both belonging to CL Grupo Industrial’s Steel Division, the Sustainable N Mark certification.
This seal certifies that a product is sustainable from an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) perspective and helps to reinforce and enhance the strong commitment that the steel sector has maintained for more than 50 years in the field of sustainability, with the gradual reduction of CO2 emissions per tonne of steel produced, while also promoting essential social and governance aspects increasingly demanded by society from this industry.

The granting of the seal reflects the sustainable commitment of the five steel groups: ArcelorMittal (Olaberría and Bergara plants), CELSA Group (Celsa Atlantic, Nervacero, Global Steel Wire and Celsa Barcelona), CL Grupo Industrial (Siderúrgica Balboa and Corrugados Getafe), Grupo Riva (Siderúrgica Sevillana and BES Brandenburger Elektrostahlwerke) and Megasa Siderúrgica (Megasa Siderúrgica, SN Maia-Siderurgia Nacional, SN Seixal-Siderurgia Nacional and Megasider Zaragoza). The certified companies have carried out essential activities in terms of respect for the environment, social responsibility in areas such as good labour practices and active involvement with the community, and good organisational governance.
Likewise, the AENOR Sustainable N Mark certification makes it possible to track the progress of these companies, since it is renewed year after year and encourages a continuous improvement effort.
The AENOR Sustainable N Mark is established as the foundation of the Sustainable Building Certification, a pioneering seal in the market and in the construction sector that combines the ESG sustainability of the parties involved (designer, materials and contractor) with the assessment of the European Level(s) criteria in the building.
